Charity Project News

Every year, SCC ‘adopts’ a charity and raises funds for it in all sorts of ways! As our website is new, there’s not a lot of information here about this year’s activities.

This page will be the go-to for future news about events, totals and all things charity project.

This year’s charity project has been raising money for the Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub. Find out more about them here: Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub – Coventry City Councilhttps://www.coventry.gov.uk/coventry-dementia-partnership-hub-1/coventry-dementia-partnership-hub

At a special church meeting on January 11th, a significant majority decision was made to support Bardsley Youth Project.

Below is a brief outline adapted from their website introduction: Bardsley is a youth homelessness charity that tackles growing youth homelessness in Coventry. Service users are sometimes street homeless, or living in temporary hostel accommodation. However, the majority of them are classed as ‘hidden homeless’. Hidden homeless is sometimes referred to as ‘sofa surfing.’

Bardsley works with young people aged 16-25 in Coventry who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or vulnerably housed – to find, secure, keep, equip and maintain accommodation. The engagement team ‘walk with young people’ through their challenges, providing each individual with a unique mix of practical and emotional support along the way.

Bardsley’s service is all about choice. They seek to not only support young people in overcoming housing challenges, but to help them to flourish – whatever that might look like for them. Young people have access to a range of support including help with applying for and navigating things like home finder, benefits, council tax, DWP, and other support services such as mental health & GP services.
